Dream Synergy Certification

The new class for certification will begin in Charleston, SC
September 2009.  Apply Today!

Application Deadline: Friday, May 1, 2009
Maximum of 10 Program Participants

THE INSTITUTE FOR DREAM STUDIES (IDS) offers a certification program for work with dreams in private and clinical settings. It is designed for therapists, counselors, spiritual directors, clergy, health care workers, artists, teachers, as well as those seeking personal insight. The certification program consists of 3 four-day weekend sessions per year in Charleston, South Carolina, and at-home studies. Attendance at the International Association for the Study of Dreams (IASD) annual conference broadens the participants’ exposure to various specialists and areas of dreamwork.

At-home study involves reading, writing, and attending dreamwork sessions with an approved dream therapist. Participants will keep a dream journal, as well as a personal journal exploring individual development. Students will receive personal feedback on all written assignments.

Participants of IDS will analyze their dreams leading toward personal development and individuation. This is seen as the cornerstone of
Dream Synergy ™  Certification. During the first year, such subjects as the aspects of energy, emotions, and personal development will be investigated in depth. Students will read and reflect on various writings in the field of dreams and be encouraged to develop a particular area of interest. They will explore the process of organizing and leading dream groups by honoring the dream in a spiritual manner. Details of group work will be studied and participants will learn a variety of creative methods in dreamwork. Students will have access to Justina and her guidance and reflections throughout the program.

A provisional certificate will be issued to each participant who successfully completes the first year of the program.

The second year will include two tracks of study. Both tracks will continue dreamwork and on-line group sharing. Students will be encouraged to continue studies through reading, attending regional workshops and/or the International Association for the Study of Dreams (IASD) conference. There will be three required attendance programs in Charleston for further learning and sharing in the second year.

Track I  Students will complete an internship by preparing business plans and by leading a dream group(s). With the successful completion of the internship program, students will be awarded an official Dream Synergy certification, which will allow use of Dream Synergy materials and the authorization to practice under the umbrella of the Institute for Dream Studies.

Track II Students will further their study by creating a project focusing on a particular area of dream studies. This track is provided for students who are not currently interested in pursuing dream group leadership. With the successful completion of assignments throughout the second year and the personal project, the student will be awarded an official
Dream Synergy Certificate.

Re: Dream Synergy

syn-er-gy (sinər jē) n., the combined action that produces a total effect greater than the sum of the individual elements, contributions, etc.

"Synergy":
It is originally a scientific term.  St. Paul used the word in his Epistles (Rom. 8:28; 1 Cor. 3:9) to illustrate a dynamic conception of human, divine and cosmic cooperation: "I did the planting, Apollo's the watering, but God made things grow…We are fellow workers (synergoi) with God; you are God's farm, God's building."

Qualifications

All participants need to have a sincere interest in pursuing their path in dreamwork and to respect the spiritual nature of the dream and the dreamer.

Participants must be able to attend all intensives throughout the program and be committed to satisfactorily completing the at-distance learning portion of the program.

The IASD ethical guidelines apply to all applications and must be adhered to throughout the program and in the practice of
Dream Synergy  dreamwork (www.asdreams.org/ethics.htm).

Participants who complete the two-year program will receive
Dream Synergy  Certification. A one-year course of study is also available.
